Participants will engage with renowned professors, sports executives, & leadership experts who specialize in sports medicine, sports business, & administration.
Prepare for life beyond the game with dynamic workshops focused on career development and personal branding. Led by industry experts in sports business, medicine, and leadership, these sessions offer hands-on learning opportunities to develop skills that will set you apart.
From building a professional resume and crafting your personal brand to mastering sports analytics and understanding the business side of athletics, you’ll gain practical tools that are invaluable in any career path.
Immerse yourself in the rich history and vibrant culture of Washington, D.C., a city that blends leadership, legacy, and inspiration. Explore iconic landmarks such as the U.S. Capitol, Smithsonian Museums, and National Mall, each offering a deeper understanding of the nation’s history and the pivotal role sports play in shaping society.
Beyond the monuments, participants will engage in unique cultural experiences that highlight the city’s dynamic personality. From interactive tours of historical sites to entertainment activities like live theater performances or exclusive excursions, every moment is designed to inspire curiosity and broaden perspectives.
The following is a sample itinerary. Each day is designed to inspire, educate, and empower the next generation of leaders.
Morning:
Arrival and check-in at a premium hotel near downtown D.C. or university dormitories (e.g., George Washington University).
Afternoon:
Welcome Reception: Meet and greet with facilitators, coaches, and fellow participants.
Evening:
Keynote Session: “Achieving Excellence in Sports and Society” delivered by a professional athlete, sports leader, or D.C.-based thought leader.
Morning:
Guided campus tour of Georgetown University.
Admissions Workshop: Led by Georgetown admissions officers covering application strategies, essay writing, and financial aid insights.
Afternoon:
Guided campus tour of American University.
Interactive seminar: “Leadership in Sports Medicine” led by American University faculty.
Evening:
Dinner at a local D.C. hotspot (e.g., Founding Farmers, Old Ebbitt Grill or similar).
Morning:
Guided campus tour of George Washington University (GWU).
Sports Business Panel: Industry experts from Monumental Sports & Entertainment discuss careers in sports marketing, administration, and entrepreneurship.
Afternoon:
Guided campus tour of George Mason University.
Workshop on personal branding and leveraging sports achievements for professional success.
Evening:
Attend a Washington Nationals (MLB) or DC United (MLS) game with VIP access.
Morning:
Visit to The U.S. Capitol Building with a discussion on how sports intersect with politics and social change.
Afternoon:
Leadership Challenge: Participants collaborate on real-world sports leadership dilemmas in a hands-on project.
Evening:
Dinner at The Wharf with scenic skyline views.
Open Q&A session with a former Olympian or pro athlete sharing their journey in sports and leadership.
Morning:
Capstone Presentations: Participants present solutions to leadership challenges in sports and society.
Certification Ceremony: Receive a Leadership in Sport & Society certificate.
Afternoon:
Attend a DC United (MLS) training session with exclusive access to observe team drills.
Meet with the coaching staff to discuss player development, team strategy, and pathways to professional soccer.
Evening:
Farewell Dinner: Networking reception at a D.C. cultural venue (e.g., the Smithsonian or Kennedy Center).
All lodging is included for registered participants! We take care of any and all lodging accommodations while you’re on the trip, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.
While student-athletes are fully supervised and are allowed to travel alone, parents are welcome (and encouraged) to participate. Parents (adult supervisors) will have the option to enroll with their student athlete after the student athlete’s registration.
We’ll be sure to send you information and pricing, accommodations, planning, etc. for parents will be the same as student athletes. *Please note- Non-Adult Supervisors (Under the age of 18) are not allowed as a registered participant of the trip in any fashion. This includes siblings and friends. Each athlete is allowed 2 adult supervisor to attend the trip.
Yes! Student Athletes are welcome to travel to the SAS Washington D.C. Educational Trip without an accompanying family member.
You must bring an updated valid PhotoID (Drivers License/State ID). This is essential to making sure that you have a great trip and no hiccups.
The bookings SAS makes for flights, accommodations, match tickets, academy trainings, live games, and more are nonrefundable to SAS, so because of this, we cannot offer cancellation insurance, but rather a cancellation timeline.
If you have to cancel or plans change for any reason, please keep in mind the timeline below.
– 50% refundable if canceled 12 weeks prior to departure
– 25% refundable if canceled 8 weeks prior to departure
– Non-refundable for cancellations made inside of 2 months prior to departure
