Sample Itenerary

Day 1: Arrival, Campus Tours, and Historical Exploration

Morning

  • Arrive, meet with tour guide, and take bus to campus tour. 
  • Georgetown University Campus Tour

Afternoon

  • Lunch
  • George Washington University Campus Tour
  • Sports Leadership Seminar with GWU coach  
  • Guided Tours of FDR Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, MLK Jr Memorial, and WWI Memorial 
Evening
  • Washington Monument & Observation Deck
  • Dinner in Chinatown

Day 2: Museum Crawl & Capital Hill Exploration 

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Smithsonian Museums: National Museum of the American Indian, the Museum of Natural History, the Museum of American History and the American Art Museum.
  • National Museum of African American History and Culture. 

Afternoon

  • Break For Lunch
  • Tour United States Capitol Monument
  • Tour Capitol Building and receive professional group photo. Copy of photo provided.
  • Tour the Library of Congress 

Evening

  • Bowling Alley Outing with Pizza Dinner

Day 3: Campus Tour & Historical Exploration 

Morning

  • Breakfast
  • Arlington National Cemetery where you will take a tour and see the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Changing of the Guard Ceremony, the Challenger Memorial and the Kennedy Grave Sites.
  • You”ll visit a two-block area of 16th Street NW where you will see a mural that features the words “Black Lives Matter” in 50-foot-tall letters, in yellow and all caps, as well as the flag of the District of Columbia.

Afternoon

  • Break for lunch 
  • American University Campus Tour
  • Sports Leadership Seminar by AU Coach 
  • Visit the Basilica of the National Shrine. This is the largest Roman Catholic church in North America and one of the largest churches in the world. Though it is distinctly American, it rivals some of the great sanctuaries of Europe.
  • Visit Ford’s Theatre and the Petersen House. You will learn the story about John Wilkes Booth and why he shot President Lincoln. 

Evening

  • Dinner at Cuba Libre.

Day 4: Departure and Reflection

Morning

  • Breakfast.
  • Check Out Of Hotel
  • Free time to explore Georgetown.

Afternoon

  • Free time for shopping at the Pentagon City Mall.
  • Travel to airport for return trip home.

Frequently Asked Questions

All lodging is included for registered participants! We take care of any and all lodging accommodations while you’re on the trip, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing.

While student-athletes are fully supervised and are allowed to travel alone, parents are welcome (and encouraged) to participate. Parents (adult supervisors) will have the option to enroll with their student athlete after the student athlete’s registration. 

We’ll be sure to send you information and pricing, accommodations, planning, etc. for parents will be the same as student athletes. *Please note- Non-Adult Supervisors (Under the age of 18) are not allowed as a registered participant of the trip in any fashion. This includes siblings and friends. Each athlete is allowed 2 adult supervisor to attend the trip.

Yes! Student Athletes are welcome to travel to the SAS Washington D.C. Educational Trip without an accompanying family member. 

You must bring an updated valid PhotoID (Drivers License/State ID). This is essential to making sure that you have a great trip and no hiccups.

The bookings SAS makes for flights, accommodations, match tickets, academy trainings, live games, and more are nonrefundable to SAS, so because of this, we cannot offer cancellation insurance, but rather a cancellation timeline.

If you have to cancel or plans change for any reason, please keep in mind the timeline below.

– 50% refundable if canceled 12 weeks prior to departure
– 25% refundable if canceled 8 weeks prior to departure
– Non-refundable for cancellations made inside of 2 months prior to departure
