As a graduating senior at The Mount Academy in Esopus, New York, Sean Huleatt represents the very definition of a complete student-athlete. A dedicated soccer player, committed student, and passionate servant-leader, Sean’s high school journey reflects years of discipline, growth, and purpose. His accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, and in service to others have earned him recognition not only within his school and athletic community, but also as a member of the distinguished Student Athlete Scholars program—an invitation-only community that celebrates high-achieving student-athletes who excel in competition, academics, leadership, and character.
For Sean, soccer has never been just a sport. It has been a foundation for friendships, personal development, and lessons that extend far beyond the game itself.
A Multi-Position Leader on the Field
Hailing from Rifton, New York, Sean has been a consistent presence in competitive soccer since his freshman year of high school. He has played Varsity Soccer at The Mount Academy since 9th grade, while also competing at the ECNL level with Quickstrike. Balancing high-level club competition with varsity responsibilities requires time management, discipline, and resilience—qualities Sean has demonstrated year after year.
On the field, Sean’s versatility sets him apart. He plays multiple positions, including right back (RB), left back (LB), center back (CB), and defensive midfielder (DM). This flexibility speaks not only to his technical skill set but also to his tactical awareness and team-first mentality. Defensive roles demand communication, anticipation, and composure under pressure. Whether organizing the back line, stepping into the midfield to break up play, or tracking runs along the flanks, Sean has embraced each responsibility with consistency and maturity.
Playing for both The Mount Academy and Quickstrike has shaped his understanding of team culture and accountability. Competing at the ECNL level challenged him to raise his standards, while representing his high school deepened his connection to community and school pride. Through these experiences, he learned that success in soccer is built on trust, unity, and shared commitment.
“I have been playing Varsity Soccer, as well as Soccer at the ECNL level since 9th grade,” Sean reflects. “The opportunity to play for my High School Team, The Mount Academy, and Quickstrike made me understand the importance of a team which is like a family. The friendship I now have with each one of my teammates will be something I will forever cherish.”
Those words capture what statistics alone cannot: the lasting impact of shared goals, hard work, and brotherhood.
Recognition for Character and Service
While Sean’s consistency on the field has been impressive, one of the most meaningful honors of his senior year speaks to something even deeper than athletic achievement.
At the conclusion of his final high school season, Sean received the Anthony Martelli Award for Service from the Section 9 Soccer Coaches Association. This recognition highlights not only athletic involvement but also a commitment to service and character—qualities that define leadership beyond competition.
The award stands as a testament to the way Sean has represented his team, his school, and his broader community. It reflects the respect he has earned from coaches and mentors who recognize that impact is measured not only by performance, but by the way an individual uplifts others.
Service Beyond Borders
Sean’s commitment to service extends well beyond local efforts. During the summer before his senior year, he volunteered at a summer camp in Ukraine—an experience that profoundly shaped his perspective on leadership, gratitude, and responsibility.
At the camp, Sean and fellow volunteers helped distribute food, taught English, and played baseball with children from areas near the front lines. The experience placed him face-to-face with young people living through extraordinary challenges. Rather than feeling overwhelmed, Sean leaned into the opportunity to provide encouragement, stability, and joy in whatever ways he could.
After returning home, he reflected on how deeply the experience affected him.
“I have realized the importance of service to others who are less fortunate than us,” he shares, “which includes growing business that make it possible for such efforts.”
The connection between service and business may not be obvious at first glance, but for Sean, the two are intertwined. He sees entrepreneurship and business leadership as vehicles for impact—tools that can generate resources, create opportunity, and support humanitarian efforts around the world.
This global perspective distinguishes him as a young leader who thinks beyond immediate success and toward long-term contribution.
Academic Focus and Future Goals
As he prepares to graduate from The Mount Academy, Sean is looking ahead with clarity and ambition. Though he has not yet finalized his college decision, his top choices include Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Siena College, and Brandeis University. Wherever he ultimately enrolls, he plans to study Business Administration, with a concentration in Marketing or Sales.
His academic interests align naturally with his long-term goals. A background in marketing and sales will equip him with the knowledge to grow organizations, expand outreach, and build sustainable ventures—skills he hopes to apply in ways that support service initiatives and community development.
In addition to his academic pursuits, Sean intends to continue playing soccer at the collegiate level. His years of experience across multiple defensive positions, combined with his understanding of team culture and accountability, position him to contribute meaningfully to a college program.
Balancing athletics and academics at the next level will require continued discipline, but Sean has already demonstrated his ability to manage demanding schedules. Competing at the ECNL level while maintaining his academic responsibilities has prepared him well for the expectations of collegiate life.
A Member of Student Athlete Scholars
Sean’s achievements have earned him membership in Student Athlete Scholars, an invitation-only community built to recognize and support high-achieving student-athletes who excel not only in competition, but in the classroom and in their character.
Student Athlete Scholars exists on the belief that the strongest college opportunities are created when athletic ability is matched by academic achievement, leadership, and service. It is more than a title—it is a growth community designed to help driven athletes transform their work ethic and discipline into meaningful next steps for college and beyond.
Through this network, members gain access to scholarship opportunities, trusted mentorship, guidance from experienced professionals, and insights that help them stand out to colleges. The program recognizes that student-athletes are more than competitors; they are scholars, leaders, and community builders.
Sean embodies that philosophy. His dedication to varsity and ECNL soccer demonstrates athletic commitment. His pursuit of a Business Administration degree reflects academic focus. His service in Ukraine and recognition with the Anthony Martelli Award reveal character and compassion. Together, these qualities illustrate why he belongs in a community that celebrates the complete individual.
For a graduating senior, this acknowledgment carries special significance. It affirms years of unseen effort—early mornings, long practices, late-night study sessions, and quiet acts of service that may not always make headlines but shape character in lasting ways.
A Legacy of Brotherhood and Growth
As Sean closes the chapter on his high school career, he leaves behind more than match performances and accolades. He leaves a legacy of reliability, humility, and service-minded leadership.
His teammates will remember him as a versatile defender who could be counted on in multiple roles. Coaches will remember his steady presence and willingness to contribute wherever needed. Younger players will see in him an example of how commitment to both sport and service can coexist.
Most importantly, Sean carries forward lessons that extend beyond any single season: the importance of teamwork, the value of perseverance, and the responsibility to use one’s talents in service of others.
From Rifton to Esopus, from Section 9 recognition to international volunteer work in Ukraine, his journey reflects a young man determined to grow not only as an athlete, but as a person.
As he prepares for college—whether at RIT, Siena, or Brandeis—Sean Huleatt steps confidently into his next chapter as both a scholar and a competitor. With plans to study Business Administration, continue his soccer career, and pursue opportunities that allow him to make a meaningful difference, his path forward is guided by purpose.
In every sense, he represents what it means to be a Student Athlete Scholar: disciplined in competition, committed in the classroom, and grounded in service. And as a member of the Class of 2026 from The Mount Academy, Sean’s story is not simply one of achievement—it is one of intention, gratitude, and the drive to open doors for others along the way.
