The Student Athlete Scholars (SAS) takes immense pleasure in extolling the accomplishments of one of its most illustrious members, Tariq Hamdan, all set to graduate as a high-performance athlete and stellar scholar in 2025. Hailing from Chandler, Arizona, Hamdan embodies the core values of SAS: embodying excellence on and off the field, pursuing academic brilliance, and perfecting the art of balance in both.
As a national merit-based society, SAS prides itself on nurturing the crème de la crème of student-athletes, encouraging them to reach the zenith of their potentials. SAS fosters a community where competition in sports coexists peacefully with a commitment to academics – a delicate yet crucial balance that every student-athlete must master. Tariq Hamdan has not only mastered this balance but has also excelled in it, proving himself as a shining beacon of inspiration for other aspiring student-athletes.
Sporting a remarkable perfect 4.0 GPA, Hamdan’s academic excellence is matched only by his passion for soccer, a game he has been adroitly playing since first grade. Making history, Hamdan captained his school’s inaugural varsity soccer team and admirably led them to their first playoff berth. His unbeatable skills shattered records, winning a state championship in 2023. His undeniable talents earned him a prestigious spot in Arizona’s team in the Olympic Development Program for three consecutive years.
Hamdan’s soccer journey did not stop within the confines of his school teams. He relentlessly honed his skills, participating and excelling at high-level competitions with Phoenix Brazas. Off the field, he is equally spirited. Serving as the president of his school’s National Honor Society, Hamdan has proven to be a leader both in sports and academics.
Like many SAS scholars, Hamdan intends to continue his impressive journey long after graduation. He plans to major in architectural engineering, showcasing his diverse interests and talents while continuing to play soccer at an elite level during his college years.
