When one envisions the characteristics that define a successful student-athlete, words such as dedication, perseverance, leadership, and commitment often come to mind. These are but a few of the traits embodied by our very own Deshaun Logan from Greensboro, North Carolina, a graduating senior of the Student Athlete Scholars (SAS) for the class of 2025.
SAS, as many are aware, is a merit-based society, dedicated to nurturing high-achieving student-athletes. The society’s members are the country’s rising stars, lauded as the very best within their respective associations and recognized at both the state and national levels.
Deshaun is one such promising student-athlete, deeply committed to achieving his dreams, and has consistently displayed the SAS motto of high achievement across the board. An inspiring soccer player with a knack for exceptional performance both on the field and off it, he embodies the SAS spirit and serves as the epitome of a multi-faceted, high-performing student-athlete.
As part of the SAS mentorship aspect, Deshaun took the time to network with his fellow scholar-athletes, learning from their experiences and utilizing their insights in his application strategies. Not only did he benefit from this collaboration, but Deshaun also took the opportunity to demonstrate his leadership skills and extend his experience to aid those behind him, a commitment that did not go unnoticed by college admissions.
Furthermore, in a world where balancing grades, sports, applications, and warding off burnout can be challenging, Deshaun exemplified a perfect balance. Gleaning knowledge from admissions counselors with backgrounds in athletics and academics, Logan discovered the must-haves for college applications, successfully balancing his time and energies between his academic pursuits and his dedication to soccer.
Moreover, Deshaun exemplified the SAS focus on community-building, service, and leadership. His commitment to these areas was evident – participating, leading and even contributing to the establishment of local chapters. His embodiment of these highly sought-after qualities confirmed to admissions that he would be an asset to their student body, setting a positive example for his peers, and later, as a dedicated alum.
As his graduation day quickly approaches, we extend our highest commendation to Deshaun for his dedication, commitment to service and unending desire for excellence. As he prepares to step onto his chosen path, we are excited to see him continue his journey of success and achievement.
