Celebrating the Merits of an Exemplary Student Athlete: Carter Mathis, SAS Graduating Class of 2025.

At SAS (Student Athlete Scholars), we pride ourselves on nurturing a merit-based community of high-performing student-athletes, who go above and beyond, both in their academics and athletics. We strive to create a network that fosters mentorship, guidance, and strategies to help these bright students get into their dream colleges. Today, we spotlight one such commendable scholar – Carter Mathis, a graduating senior from Roswell High School, and a proud member of the SAS Class of 2025.

 

Carter’s academic journey is nothing short of impressive. He has continuously earned distinction with multiple honours, securing a place on both the Honor Roll and Principal’s Honor Roll, and has earned recognition from the National Society for High School Scholars (NSHSS). In 2024, Carter was the proud recipient of the Tom Zachary VIP Award, honoring his exemplary citizenship and personal character.

 

Carter’s commendable academic journey is matched with an equally impressive athletic career. As a dedicated soccer player, Carter has not only played at school and club level, but his leadership and prowess on the field have earned him the role of team captain. His contribution to the sport have been recognized with varsity letters and the coveted MVP awards.

 

Carter’s commitment to excellence extends beyond academics and athletics — he is also a valuable member of the JROTC program, where he now holds the rank of Command Sergeant Major. His leadership and academic prowess were recognized with the prestigious MOAA Leadership and Academics Award and the Superior JROTC Cadet Decoration. This fall, he is set to serve as Battalion Executive Officer, displaying his dedication and hard work.

 

Aside from these remarkable accomplishments, Carter’s dedication to community service and leadership are exemplary. He has consistently shown a commitment to helping others, enhancing his community, and mentoring other aspiring student athletes.

Carter’s time at SAS and Roswell High School has undeniably been adorned with accolades and achievements, laying a robust foundation for a promising future.

 

As he prepares to embark on the next chapter of his academic journey at the University of North Georgia – The Military College of Georgia, pursuing Army Aviation, we are confident that he will continue to strive for excellence. Carter encapsulates the true spirit of an SAS scholar, setting a standard for future graduating classes.
