Every year, a select group of high-achieving student-athletes receive recognition from Student Athlete Scholars, SAS, a prestigious merit-based society distinguishing the top student-athletes in their state and nation. SAS Scholars are multi-talented individuals whose accomplishments in the classroom and on the playing field merit applause. This year, we spotlight Kennedi King, an exemplary graduating senior of 2025 from Westlake High School, La Plata, Maryland.
Internationally recognized, SAS provides a platform that empowers student-athletes like King to secure admission into their top colleges. Through mentorship, unique application strategies, opportunities for community service, and leadership, SAS offers a strong support system to help their scholars maximize their potential. These scholars are then well-equipped to effortlessly balance grades, sports, and admissions applications while also contributing positively to their community.
Kennedi King is no exception to the calibre of scholars that SAS represents. This remarkable student-athlete excels in Honors and Advanced Placement courses while also actively participating in Varsity Volleyball and Track. As the captain of her club volleyball team, she displays commendable leadership and dedication both on and off the court. Apart from her athletic and academic prowess, King has shown an unwavering commitment to service through her involvement in various community service initiatives.
With each student-athlete demonstrating unique strengths, SAS encourages them to play to their strengths and pursue their passions – and King does just that. Exhibiting an immense passion for health and sports performance, she aims to major in Physical Therapy in college to further embrace her love for academics and athletics.
Moreover, she aspires to join the college volleyball team as a student-athlete and continue to make significant contributions to her team.
