The Student Athlete Scholars (SAS) community takes great pride in shining a spotlight on our graduating class of 2025, specifically Canon Hitchcock from Milledgeville, GA. SAS is a merit-based society, comprised of high performing student-athletes, selectively chosen for their exceptional abilities both on and off the field. Such students embody the delicate balancing act of exceptional academic accomplishment and top-notch athletic performance. Today, we are thrilled to share Canon’s inspiring journey to success, highlighting his unwavering dedication and persistent strive for excellence.
From countless soccer games on the school field to an array of travel team matches, Canon has always nurtured a passion for the sport. His drive to not just pursue but excel at the next level led him to embark on a journey to every possible camp in the summer following his junior year. It was his focused intent to gain maximum exposure that led to a fortuitous encounter with his future college coach at the MOBA camp in Peachtree City and subsequently, the Exact camp in Fayetteville.
Canon’s hard work and diligent efforts bore fruit when he received an unexpected Instagram message from the Point University coach inviting him to visit the campus. The small, intimate campus vibe resonated with Canon and he was particularly captivated by the University’s initiative to mould a team of young men embedded with strong values of character and faith.
To make an informed decision, Canon expressed interest in attending a team practice session, which eventually happened in January. He took a highly crucial decision after earnest prayers and surrounded by the love of his dear ones, signing the letter of intent for Fall 2025 to join Point University’s Skyhawk Men’s soccer team.
Canon’s uplifting journey highlights the importance of the SAS mission, paving the way for other student athletes. His story underlines the potential for brilliant accomplishments when one taps into the powerhouse of mentorship, networking, and strategic application efforts that SAS provides.
We believe that Canon’s story will inspire other SAS members to embrace the challenges of balancing academic grades, sports, and admissions applications, turning them into opportunities. We also celebrate his commitment to community building, service, and leadership. He is the embodiment of exactly what colleges seek: students who not only excel in their studies and sports but also contribute positively to their community.
As Canon prepares to embark on this exciting new journey in his life, we at SAS feel privileged to have been part of his extraordinary road to success. In anticipation, we wish him a successful college journey. We are confident that he will carve out a niche for himself at Point University and continue to uphold the high standards of SAS. It brings immense satisfaction to witness a dream being converted into reality, and Canon’s example stands as a symbol of hope, determination, and grit to all young aspirants.
